Cattle at Spring Valley Ranch
|
|
At Spring Valley Ranch, we raise Gelbvieh, Angus, Hereford cross cattle. We have the privilege of having all of our cattle in the Black Hills year around. In the summertime, the majority of our cattle are put out on open range permits. The rest are kept in private pastures. This gives us the opportunity to explore the picturesque and changing trails in the hills year around.

Doesn't this pretty little heifer look like she needs to be a Mamma Cow in a couple years? When the sunrise looks like this, it is easy to wake up with apreciation for the day to come!
Horses at Spring Valley Ranch

We raise good working registered quarter horses. Our bloodlines include: Doc Bar, Two Eyed Jack, Leo, Mid American, Sonny Reynolds, Peponita, Poco Bueno, Casa War Bond, Dandy Seeker, Jackstraw (TB), King Jacket and Fakey Dukas. Currently, we have 2 stallions at the ranch. Doc Pep is retired both from work and breeding. However, we ride and breed many of his offspring. Foxy Red Duke is the stallion we currently have for breeding. He and his offspring are great riding horses.

In the first picture above, we have Ned riding King (Taga Foxy King) to push cattle to the chute for branding and vaccinating. In the second picture, we have "Smokie" our 2009 filly....boy is she going to be a dandy!

Here we have Morgan and Stetson enjoying a fine June day. They are blowing bubbles and pushing their dump trucks through the sprinkler to wash them!
