Due to the muddy corral system, we did not brand the calves in the corral this year. Instead, we kept the calves in the barn until it was time to brand them, and set up chutes and calf tables outside the barn door. The calves were brought to the table when it was their turn to be branded. Yes, a couple calves slipped out the table before being branded and had to be caught and branded on the ground. The cows still got worked in the corral system, so we didn't get to completely avoid the mud. Also, toward the end of branding we got a "bit" of rain.
