Trained and shown in cutting, Pep was a money and point earner in futurities and NCHA events. After retiring from the show arena, Pep became one of the most frequently used horses at the ranch. Although he is only 14.1 hh, you could rope calves, tackle a bull, or just check cows on him. He loved it. Also, no one told him that he was vertically challenged. Sometimes Pep just wasn’t tall enough to breed the bigger mares. Therefore, Pep only bred mares by artificial insemination. A success in the breeding shed, Doc Pep produced many offspring that turned into outstanding cow horses.

Eagle Hill Sonny, who has been at the ranch since 1982, is from a line of great producers, halter and performance horses. Eagle, himself, has AQHA points in both halter and western pleasure. When Eagle was not in the breeding shed or show arena, he worked for the ranch. He loved nothing better than winning an argument with a bull who didn't want to move.
The old man is gone, and we will miss his personality and zest for life. We are grateful for his success in the breeding shed and the few sons and daughters left at the ranch. Thanks for the memories, Eagle!!
Piece of Straw, a gentle giant, had Superior and Champion AQHA points. His points came from halter, western pleasure and team roping. His sire, Jackstraw Jr (TB), was AAA rated and had a Racing Register of Merit. His dam, Annie Tag, was shown in halter. Today Piece of Straw's memory is kept alive through his daughters' and granddaughters' foals.
